Death of a family member

In the event of a death, surviving family members or other persons close to the deceased might be due compensation if another party can be held responsible. For example, if a family member dies in a work-related event or traffic accident.

In Dutch law, only certain persons have a right to compensation, for instance those that depended financially on the deceased. The law also prescribes which costs can be recovered from the responsible party, for instance costs of living (for dependents) and funeral costs, if they are not already covered by insurance.

Experience teaches us that seeking compensation after a death can be an emotional and taxing process. However, our experts are ready to support you in the path towards receiving due compensation.
